Step 1
Get to know your boat: history, inventory, owner(s), financing…
- Our priority is to establish an accurate history and inventory, and to highlight your boat’s equipment and assets into the ads.
- Our responsibility? Making sure that all the listed items are linked to invoices and available documents Original invoices, equipment invoices, maintenance invoices and official documents are key elements.
- Our mission? Enhancing your boat’s history, an important factor in reassuring future buyers.
- Copy of deed of francisation / certificate of registration or flag letter
- Manufacturer’s CE certificate (if after 1998) or shipyard certificate of conformity
- Identity paper for each owner
- Proof of residency
- Company register (extrait kbis in France) for each owner in the case of company(ies)
- A mortgage-free certificate
- Initial purchase invoices if the boat is first-hand
- Copy of the redemption value table if the boat is leased
- Expert reports if available
- Invoices for additional equipment, service and maintenance invoices.
- History of work carried out or expenses incurred. The last three years will be detailed
Our first priority is to ensure that the seller of the boat is actually its owner.
Second priority: the more documentation we have, the more serious and substantiated our case will be, and the less negotiation we’ll have to do. It’s all about giving buyers confidence. It’s also a major factor in getting foreigners to commit before they even move.
Step 3
Formalizing our relationship
- At MiB, we don’t work without a selling mandate: this ensures that the boats displayed are really managed by us.
- All contracts, certificates… are signed electronically
Next, exclusive or non-exclusive mandate? Exclusivity grants you access to additional services and real control over your ad.
Within the framework of a central agent mandate, you grant exclusivity to MiB Yacht Services :
We then undertake to “open” this exclusive file to co-brokerage. From now on, all professionals have access to this file, and can present it to their customers. We pay them by sharing the commission.
On the other hand, we remain the owner’s sole point of contact, filling in the file with 360° pictures and extensive social networking: we prepare the boat carefully.
The MiB Yacht Services team gives priority to this type of project, and is able to invest more effort thanks to this exclusive mandate. This is far more effective than a non-exclusive mandate.
Within this framework, you remain free to :
- Sell your boat yourself.
- Sell your boat through another professional.
However, the mandate commits the owner (or LOA lessee) to a “public” sale price, which must be the same for all ads.
This type of mandate can give rise to complex situations, particularly when two professionals identify the same customer, and neither wants to lose the mandate AND the customer. There is little point in multiplying the number of professionals, since MiB Yacht Services already advertises through every possible channel.
Step 5
Post your ad
- A complete media plan adapted to each sailboat, yacht or catamaran, for the distribution of boat ads to French and international customers.
- Communication on more than 20 platforms, boat announcements shared on social networks.
- A database of thousands of potential buyers.
- Ad diffusion is further strengthened by the international Sunbird International Yachts Sales group, of which MiB is a member.
Step 7
Finalizing and securing the transaction
- By choosing to entrust us with the sale of your boat, you are putting your trust in a committed team.
- The deposit is paid into a dedicated escrow account
- The balance of the sale can also be secured by a trust agreement, guaranteeing the use and transfer of funds.
- We manage the entire sales process. Our service also includes coordination of technical interventions, and at your request, we can also take care of administrative formalities (de-registration, domiciliation, etc.).
